About Meet You When I Land
Transforming the layover into a social space for real human connection.
Crew life creates proximity without coordination. Pilots, cabin crew, and trusted friends can cross the same city, airport, or even hotel without knowing until after departure. Meet You When I Land (MYWIL) makes those useful travel-window overlaps visible soon enough to turn them into coffee, dinner, a drink, or a proper catch-up.
MYWIL is a private layover network—not a public people-nearby feed. It is designed to stay quiet until a scheduled possibility or arrival confirmation gives accepted friends a real reason to make a plan.
1. Create your private network. If you are 16 or older, sign up and find people you already know by their exact phone number. Both people accept the connection and enable sharing before MYWIL can share an overlap between them. A number lookup can show a name and approved photo before the request is accepted.
2. Add the travel windows you want compared. Share the layovers, overnights, deadheads, commutes, or trips that matter. MYWIL uses normalized availability for matching rather than publishing a raw copy of your roster.
3. Review scheduled possibilities. Premium compares place and timing across accepted connections who share usable schedules. A free friend can participate in a subscriber’s matches. A scheduled overlap is an early heads-up, not a guarantee that both people have arrived or are free to meet.
4. Confirm when it matters. Use a manual airport check-in when plans move. Optional Premium Smart Arrival uses a limited airport-area check near an upcoming layover and requires a fresh connected/imported schedule source plus background-location permission. Re-import an ICS file when it becomes stale. Manual-only entries do not enable Smart Arrival; scheduled matching still works when it is off.
5. Make the plan. When the city and the window line up, MYWIL provides a useful signal. Message your friend, check duty and travel constraints, and decide whether coffee, dinner, or a quick catch-up is realistic.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the app do?
MYWIL is a private layover network that helps trusted friends recognize when their travel windows overlap in the same city or airport. It turns an accidental overlap into a chance to make an intentional plan.
Will my location be shared?
Friends receive useful city- or airport-level overlap context rather than precise coordinates. Device-level location use, when enabled, follows your permissions, settings, and MYWIL’s privacy controls.
Do my friends need the app too?
Yes. MYWIL is built around trusted connections. Both people must participate and accept the connection before an overlap can be shared. There is no public nearby-strangers feed.
How often will I receive notifications?
MYWIL is designed around limited, actionable overlap alerts rather than generic pings. The exact controls and notification behavior are shown in the current app.
Does using the app drain my battery?
MYWIL is designed schedule-first, so scheduled matching works without Smart Arrival. When enabled, Smart Arrival can use background geofences near upcoming layover airports for a limited arrival check and needs a fresh connected/imported schedule source. Actual impact varies by device, settings, permissions, operating system, and use.
How much does Meet You When I Land cost?
Planned iOS launch pricing is C$4.99 CAD per month or C$39.99 CAD per year in Canada, and US$3.99 USD per month or US$29.99 USD per year in the United States. Eligible new subscribers can receive one introductory month at no charge, once per MYWIL Premium subscription group. Complete your profile, enable sharing, and ensure both you and an accepted friend share usable availability within the coming month before MYWIL offers the trial. The friend may remain free, and an existing overlap is not required. Apple determines introductory-offer eligibility. The trial starts only when you confirm the subscription with Apple; the selected plan renews automatically afterwards unless cancelled. Apple displays the controlling localized price, taxes, eligibility, and renewal terms before purchase.
Meet You When I Land was born from a simple missed opportunity. One brother, a pilot, spent a layover at a hotel and later discovered that a close friend had been staying in the very same hotel on the same day. They only found out when they were both back home—disappointed that they’d wasted hours of boredom when they could have caught up in person. He shared the story with his sibling, a software engineer, and together they decided to build a tool to make sure that never happens again.
Their combined backgrounds in aviation and technology shaped an app focused on privacy, simplicity, and genuine connection. MYWIL is being built first for pilots and cabin crew, then for frequent travelers and the trusted friends around them.
- Privacy-first: Accepted friends receive useful city- or airport-level overlap context, rather than precise coordinates. Users control their connections, permissions, and visibility.
- Simplicity: Add the travel windows that matter and let MYWIL compare them. We keep the design clean and notifications calm so the phone can go away after the alert.
- Real-world joy: Technology should enhance human connection, not replace it. Our goal is to create more face-to-face moments and fewer missed opportunities.
- Trust: Overlaps are shared between accepted friends with sharing enabled. Exact phone-number lookup helps people connect, and there is no public nearby-people feed or random matching.
MYWIL is built with security and data minimization in mind. Schedule matching uses the travel windows you choose to share. Optional device signals can help confirm presence when enabled, and their use follows your permissions and the controls described in the Privacy Policy.
- No public tracking: friends are not shown a precise live trail of your movements.
- Accepted-friend overlaps: a signed-in person who knows your exact sign-in number can find your name and approved photo before acceptance. Your number appears in requests and accepted connections. Schedule overlaps require both people to accept the connection and enable sharing.
- Data control: you can delete your account in the app, remove or block connections, and manage permissions.
- New and replacement profile photos stay private until manually approved; your previous approved photo remains during review.
- Names are screened for basic abuse and can be reported. You can report photos, profiles, or unwanted requests and block the account.
- Approved photo links can be saved or shared. Account deletion does not cancel an Apple subscription; use Apple’s subscription controls separately.
